Contact HSE before Purchasing Costly New Posters

The HSE launched the latest versions of its health and safety posters and law cards in April that give precise information to the employees about their right to have their health and safety taken care of.

Now the HSE is getting news about organizations being made to buy costly and unnecessary copies of its new posters. Therefore, it has asked businesses all over Britain not to be cheated into purchasing such copies as the Health and Safety Information for Employees Regulations has given a maximum time period of 5 years for putting up the new posters, that is, by 5 April 2014.

Organizations in Britain have a legal responsibility of putting up these posters at an important place in their office or giving a copy of the pocket law card to every worker. These documents list out the duties of employers and employees and have reference to places where both can get counselled.

The HSE also debunked false reports about replacing old posters immediately with the new ones and sticking them on every notice board in the office. It does not want the employers to think that they are not following the legal requisites for safety.

Vinny Kenny of the HSE announced that some unscrupulous companies were creating confusion about the new regulations and the HSE wants to put an end to this. Organizations were advised to contact the HSE and clear any misconceptions that they might have before purchasing posters or cards on the basis of any promotional offers received from unreliable sources.

Companies should make themselves fully aware of the most up-to-date requirements by visiting Workplace Law. They also need to be sure that they are giving the correct instructions to employees with regard to health and safety issues - click on NEBOSH Certificate, for information on the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health qualification; designed to help those with health and safety responsibilities to carry out their duties at work more effectively and to protect the organisations for which they work.

If an organization continues to display older posters after 6 April 2009 then the addresses of the enforcing authority and the employment medical advisory service mentioned there should be up to date and clearly written.
